First Futsal tournament
Two word sums it all, TIRED! & FUN!
It was the company's annual futsal tournament. Last year I did not take part, and I do not intend to do it this year either. The reason is because to me, amateur ladies chasing over a ball is just laughing joke to the guys. I do not want to be part of the laughing subject. The second reason is to prevent further injuries to my knees. However, after the email announcement of the game was sent out, I was approached by a colleague whom I'm not close to. We first know each other during the Laksamana Trail hiking last year. She's from a different department. Being someone who find it difficult to say no, I end up joining her team after some persuasion.
That's how Futsal started for me. And that's how I get to know some new friends. We'd have Futsal training after work in the highest floor of the multi-storey carpark. I happily take part in all the practices, treating it as another gym workout. (I've been skipping gym lately, skipping gym is only about giving excuses to own self but skipping training means disappointing the team. I wouldn't want to disappoint other people)
It was after some time did I know that my teammates were last year's defending champion.
After many weeks of delay, today is finally the tournament day. 2 courts were being rented at Gembira Parade level 4 for the tournament. My first match was scheduled to be 2pm but at last it was being delayed to almost 3pm. There were only 4 female teams, so scoring system was round-robin where one team will play against the other 3 teams once. Win = 3pts, Draw = 1pts, Lose = 0pts. Teams that got the highest points will be the champion. Game time is 15mins first half, don't know 5 or 10mins rest (i think shld be 5mins half time) then another 15mins second half. 7 person formed up a team; one substitute + 6 players.
My team name was Thunderkitten...hehe...cute name hor. First match my team won 3 to 0. Not a bad start after all.
The second game comes an hour after that. By then, I was already tired. My legs felt heavy. Even though the game goes slower in the second game (coz it was a second game of the day for both team), it was an exciting game nevertheless. This team is harder to fight against as they play with strategy, not just simply run wherever the ball goes. Anyhow, in the end, my team won 2 to 1 :)
All female teams will be having their last and final game tomorrow, and we'll know who the champion is. The score as of now (hope i did not get the score wrong):
Splitter = 1pts, Stardust = 0pts, Thunderkittens = 6pts, NoName = 4pts.
Tomorrow, my team will be playing against NoName. To secure the champion title, we'd have to at least play draw. Wish me luck...I think I need it.
