Once and only once
Recently, I've involved myself in some stock trading activities. Before this, I don't know anything about stock market, there's so many alien terms to me which I don't even know where to begin if I want to learn. Even now after a few trades, I still don't know what is what...
So, this first experience of mine wasn't a very good one. In fact, it sucks!!! It was my company's stock that I was playing. It was some free stock I get when I joined the company one year ago. So now since I've been working for more than one year already, I'm qualify to exercise the stock to get back some cash.
Since Altera is a US based Multi-National Company, the stock is on the US board (sorry if i use the term wrongly, I'm a noob ok). It is very difficult for me to monitor the stock price, or even to contact the stock agent to do any transaction. When we wake up, the stock market would have already been closed. A call to the agent will have to be done at night, and have to call alllllll the way to US.
My bad experience begin when it was my first time deciding to sell off the stock. Because the money and stock are all in the US, we can either choose to send a check to our address in Malaysia, or we can choose a faster way which is to wire transfer the money. As wire transfer will be charged US$25, i opted for a check by mail just to save some money (a very wrong decision).
A few days after I exercise the stock, I received a statement, statement only, not cheque. It's very lucky that I am able to receive the statement as the address on it is definitely incomplete. There's only the house num, jalan and taman on the envelope. Not even the word Taiping is on it!! Even the most important thing in an address, the postcode, is not printed. The postman have to complete the address in red pen, i guess the postman must be living in Taiping too coz he knows of such a small taman's existence.
So after waiting for one week plus, I assume the cheque must have been lost. If it can arrive, it would have reached 1 or 2 days away from the statement. I called the agent, and was told that the address on the envelope was correct, correct as in what is in their system. But it is different from what I see in my online account?!! Then only I know, they actually have what is called the retail account, and a user account. Retail account is what they will use to send you any mailing, and user account is what you see online, in your own online account. Shit you la...why you need these 2 database for? Why not make the 2 address the same? Simply throw info off my correct account and name it retail account? And worst still, my name on these 2 accounts are different, one is Lie Cheah and another is Lie Wei Cheah!! Woah..I tell you are, cannot tahan with them ar...US company leh...can be so stupid wan meh?
Ok ok, I didn't scold anyone when I was on the phone, as I'm not good scolding in English. Kept my cool and told them to cancel the cheque, and then wire transfer it to me. It should take about 2 to 3 days and US$25 to get the money, I don't mine giving up US$25, I just want the money to reach me safely. So the next morning, I fax them the wire transfer authorization form with my account info and all. Called them again the next nite to confirm that they received my authorization. And they did, the operator said received and is in process to confirming my bank account info, will take 2 to 3 business days. So I wait and wait and wait, and poof, it's one week again, and still no money come. So I had to call them again.
This time the operator really makes me angry nia, keep on asking me to repeat what I said. I ask if I was speaking too softly (already raising my voice, started to get angry liao). She said no, then it must be my bad english lor...stupid-nya. The last 2 times I called no such problem also (other operator). So I ask what is the status, and she told me there's no wire transfer authorization received from me!!! So there won't be any wire transfer in process!!!!!! *straight away vomit blood
Now, after one month of selling off the stock, I'm still hanging here with NO cash in hand.
I'm never gonna have any trade with them ever again!!! (Only trade when I got free stock to sell lor)
Stupid company with stupid system. I hate you SB! You suck!
What a bad first time experience.
