Merdeka in Bali
I am back from a 100% sight-seeing trip to Bali. It was all about Hindu temples and annoying Balinese trying to sell you things from wood-produced souvenir to temporary tattoos.
I was in Bali for 4D3N, staying in this hotel with a beautiful swimming pool, but with only a moderate hotel lobby.
Of so many hotels I have been with family, Febris Hotel & Spa provided me the most comfortable sleep because I don't have to share a small deluxe bed with my sis, which is what we usually do.
I booked the accommodation through AirAsia Go Holiday package. It was such a big room and AirAsia expects only 2 person to stay in it (Airasia do not care how big the room is, the website allows only 2 person in 1 room). Wasn't it a big waste?
4 flight tickets + 1 family deluxe = not possible
I had to separate the flight ticket booking, 2pax tickets only, 2pax tickets and accommodation.
(2 flight tickets + 1 family deluxe) + 2 flight tickets = thumbs up!
Located in Kuta, it is just 5mins from the airport by car. And it takes about 10 to 15mins to the nearest Kuta Beach on foot. There's always taxi and horse carriage available for people who are lazy to walk. Horse carriage that can fit 4 person cost about RM20 to RM30 per carriage from the hotel to beach.
I'd like to share the experience I had with moneychanger when I was there. We were out of IDR while there, so we look for the best rate to change MYR to IDR.
Moneychanger around that area are very samseng-like. They looks like gangster that will tail and rob you when you're half-way back to your hotel. Moneychanger at that area, around Jln Legian, have a whiteboard placed outside their small little shoplot, with currency rates written on it. Keep in mind that they don't follow what is written, I don't know about other currencies but that is the case for MYR.
The first one was just beside our hotel. The rate written was 1MYR = 2850IDR (1mil IDR = RM350). It was a good deal as the rate I get in Msia was 1MYR = 2667IDR (1mil IDR = RM375). When I approached him to change 1mil IDR, the rate he used was 2085 (1mil IDR = RM479). When question him about the rate written on his whiteboard only did he noticed that he had a different rate written on both side of the board: one side 2085, another 2850. Means if no buy Toto i-perm, tak kena lah tu~!
Decided not to change and continue hunting for better rates. After some walking, we found the rate 1MYR = 2795IDR (1million IDR = 357MYR). But when we said we wanted to change 1million IDR, they refused to follow the written rate and demanded for 400MYR saying that Ringgit turun naik skrg. "Abang, mana currency yang tidak turun naik?!" Of course I did not argue with him but just simply walk away.
Luckily, we managed to find one that change with the rate of 1MYR = 2700IDR, not bad indeed.
So dear friends, if you're visiting Bali, make sure you have enough cash for the whole trip to prevent changing money here.
Maybe more Bali post if I'm not lazy :)
