2nd Half Marathon of the year

...and still counting...

Back from the Bidor Half Marathon this past weekend. It was a fun trip traveling with entertaining friends like Kenneth and Chin...they never run out of discussion topics. And that is meant to be a compliment. They never failed to amaze me how much information they can keep in the brain of theirs.

Bidor is such a small town that it may not have enough distance to cover 21km. So the running route is an out-and-back type. Runners run from one fork to the end, turn back then turn into the other fork till the end, back out and head to finishing line. You can actually see who or how many runners are ahead of you, not too bad to keep track of your competitors/friends.

The second half of the route is rather hilly, I find it considerably tough as I am always bad at hills whether it is running or cycling. Didn't manage to do a Personal Best this time around, was 1min to breaking the previous best time. I completed Bidor 21km in 2hrs 17mins. If only I didn't slow down to walk at 2km from the finishing line. I was on the verge of giving up, it was very hot at 9am++ that day and I was holding back pee pee...there were no toilet along the route, only lots of oil palm trees :(
*This is the time when it is better to be a boy boy...can easily pee pee behind any oil palm tree of choice

After a few minutes of walking, I tried to get back into running. I sweat so much that I can feel my shoe squishing with every step, it was filled with sweat, yuck!

I dashed straight into the toilet after crossing the finishing line.

Awaiting me at the end of the race was Vico, watermelon, H2O Isotonic, water and food. I got no appetite for any food except watermelon; gulp 3 cups of Vico, 2 cans of H2O and a cup of mineral water. That makes me really full...haha...

I wish the organizers could have start the race a little earlier. 7am is too late, it gets so hot after the sun come out, some more most part of the route not shaded. And also, I think this race is quite expensive for a small town. Rm40 for 21km and was given crappy cotton T-shirt. Goodies are also very limited, 1 piece of Salonpas patch, 2 bars of Nature Valley and 20tablet of Paracetamol. Some more it is not a race with timing chip. What is commendable is the finisher medal and the Watermelon supply.

Next year Bidor? Hrmm, maybe yes, maybe not...
