Taxi driver con me?
I was in KL again today for the Visa interview. Last night I was super worried about the interview; what if I fail? what if i miss out one or two of the thick copies of documents needed? what if i cannot answer the question that the interviewer ask me? what if the time i ask the taxi driver to be at my house too late and I miss the flight?
All of the worries caused me lack of sleep, I was supposed to wake up at 5am but I awaken at 3.30am, my sleep then become on and off until the alarm sounded at 5.
The plane was super punctual today, take off right on time at 6.45am, reach KL also right on time at 7.40am. Is MAS getting more efficient? Then we take the KLIA Express to KL Sentral. To my surprise, KLIA Express is also really very punctual, take off at chun chun 8am!
Today I learn one new thing. Before this I don't know that there were actually 2 types of similar train with similar name and similar colour (purple) travelling between similar destination (KL Sentral to KLIA). They are the KLIA Express and KLIA Transit. I learned it the shameful way, the ticket in my hand is a KLIA Express ticket, but I slot it into a KLIA Transit slot in front of the KLIA Transit platform. Who ask them put similar name and similar colour to confuse me wor...Paiseh lor... :P
From KL Sentral, we took taxi to US Embassy at Jalan Tun Razak near KLCC. I find the taxi fare kinda cheap, RM10 only. Now there's the new coupon system for taxi, we need to buy the coupon to our destination from the counter then only board the taxi. I think this is to prevent unscrupulous taxi driver who don't want to use meter and simply charged tourist.
Talking about taxi and their tourist victim, I think I fall into the scam too today. After all the interview and lunch at KLCC, my friend wanted to go to Pudu Raya from Jalan Ramlee, which is the road in front of KLCC.
We walked to the taxi stand and was approached by a group of Indian taxi driver. When I tell them the destination, they said now rush hour, very jam (it was 1.30pm), I was thinking maybe sembahyang Jumaat. He said if use meter will be very expensive coz jam. The estimated price he gave me if use meter is RM60 plus, if no use meter he give discount, only RM40. He must have think I'm lulu or sth, from KLCC to Pudu Raya need RM60? Although I don't know any road in KL, I still don't think Pudu Raya is so far away, or is it? I think he is cheating me but I can't be sure. I think I remember it is a law for taxi to use meter, no use meter means against the law.
If I am alone that time, I would have just walk away and turn to Jln Ampang (the other side of KLCC) and survey the price from there. Or I can just take the Putra LRT. Since my friend said she is in a hurry, and the taxi fare we can claim, she said cincai lor...board lor. So I just follow. The total time from KLCC to Pudu Raya took only about 15 to 20mins, no jam but pass through quite a few of traffic lights. Can anyone tell me if I'm being cheated? (Hoping the 2 guys who are working in KLCC and tell me) I copied down the car number plate of the driver, his name and IC number, just in case I want to report him to the authority.
I hate people who cheat tourist. It gives Malaysia a bad name, as if it is not bad enough already.
Ok, so from Pudu Raya, my friend board a bus back to Melaka and left me alone wandering around in the city center. Since I have nothing else to do, I took monorail to KL Sentral and from KL Sentral to KLIA. Reached KLIA at 4.15pm, my flight back Penang was at 7.15pm. What am I supposed to do alone in KLIA for 3 hours?
From the departure board, I saw that there will be another flight to Penang at 5.15pm. I quickly go to the check-in counter to ask if they'll allow me to board the earlier flight. After some typing on the keyboard, the nice lady at the counter said I may take MH1154 5.15pm flight. And I'm given a window seat without requesting, yay...so happy!
25mins to boarding, I walk around looking for Starbucks. It was stated at the information board that Starbucks is located at level 3 Satellite Building, so I go to level 3 but found no Starbucks. Where the hell is Satellite Building? Haih, I finally gave up looking for Starbucks when it was only 5 mins to boarding, and disappointedly walk back to the departure hall.
And again, on the flight back, MAS was right on time, leaving and arriving very accurately (follow my watch's time). They really deserve a praise. Good job on keeping a good time management!!
The final good news of all, my Visa had been approved. Will be able to get the visa by next Monday. Yay, 2 more weeks to US!

Sayang, I took taxi from KLCC to KLIA only RM70!
In the city from one end to another would cost you the most RM15 in normal traffic jam.
Two more weeks you will be using the satellite building! Keep us posted
