Visiting Jusco Seberang Jaya
I crossed over to the Mainland on a Saturday afternoon. Right before I leave home, thoughts of the newly opened Jusco Seberang Jaya crossed my mind. Since I'll be free in the evening, why not pay the new shopping center a visit right? Heard from my friend that it's as BIG as QBM (Queensbay Mall), and there's various selection of FOOD! The sound of food always gets me going.
I am totally unfamiliar in Mainland, the only place I know is the (old and unpopular) One-Stop Megamall and the ferry station. But no worries, with the help of Google Map and my sense of direction, I'm sure I can get there on my own ;)
I scroll through Google Map to get a bird's eye view of the place. Fortunately, there are people who is kind enough to tag the place. A search for "Jusco Seberang Jaya, Penang" in Google Maps get me the info I needed. I traced the direction all the way from Megamall.
Although useable, Google Map still lacks in terms of landmark, and it may not be very accurate. But worry not, I have a Penang map :) As my Penang Map is kinda old, Jusco is not listed in it. Combining the lack-of-info-Google Map and outdated Penang map, I was able to drive myself to the destination. It was easier than I thought.
Here's a direction to Jusco Seberang Jaya from One-Stop Megamall:
Parking is a bit messy, ticketing system has not started. Parking is now still free of charge. They have multi-storey, basement and open carpark.
In QBM we have GSC, but here, they have TGV cinema. It looks 'mini' to me, only 5 room. But still, better than none.
Unlike QBM where it is a whole big round and you can see all shops by just walking along from North court to South court, this new shopping center has a back lane. In other words, if you only walk along the main path, you'd missed what is in the back lane. But when you walk into the back lane, you'd missed what is at the front.
Back lane is where all the FOOD is located. Kenny Roger's, 600cc, Black Canyon, Big Apple, McD, KFC are some of the names I can recall. But there's one back lane at the G floor where slimming center and hair care center is located. Not bad huh, if I'm going to a slimming center to slim down I wouldn't want some 'sam ku luk poh' to spot me. Same thing goes to hair care center, if I'm going bald and wanted to plant new hair, I'd like to keep that a secret.
After about 2hrs++ of touring the new shopping center, I got tired and went home. I'm not a shopping kind of person, so when you don't buy, you get boring very fast. Agree? Furthermore, walking alone doesn't make it any more interesting. Spotted PS2 for RM499. Considering whether to buy or not to buy...
As a conclusion, the new Jusco Seberang Jaya will be next 'IN' shopping center in the Mainland. With cinemas, a mini library, Jusco and many branded labels available. As for the Island folks, this new shopping center is very similar to QBM/Gurney. So there is no need to drive the extra mile and pay the extra bridge tol fee just to get here to shop.

Here's a direction to Jusco Seberang Jaya from One-Stop Megamall:
- Start from the main road in front of Megamall, facing towards the opposite way to Ferry station. Megamall on your right.
- Go straight, following the sign of Ipoh/Taiping trunk road (blue signboard).
- Straight all the way until you reach a roundabout. Right before the roundabout is a flyover on the right lane (to BM I think). Do not take the flyover. Keep left to reach roundabout.
- Take a second exit of the roundabout, about 11 o'clock. The first exit is at 8 o'clock, do not take that one (can reach also lar, but not recommended)
- Straight all the way, maybe around 2-3km. Passed by a few traffic lights. I forgot how many traffic lights, forgot to count but I think is at the second one then turn left. As soon as you turn left, the huge building is visible on your left.
