Something went flat
It was Fri evening. That day's after work activity was supposed to be swimming. I quickly completed some remaining task before leaving office, it was around 6.15pm when I walked to the parking lot.
I get into the car, wind down the window (usually don't use air-cond if i'm heading for exercise, i've had enough of air-cond in the office) and drive my way out of the multi-storey car park. As the car moved, I heard some sound coming from my left side tires. It sounded like there's a huge bubble gum stick to one side of the tire, with each rotation, I can hear the sticky sound recurring. Decided to take a look, so I park the car at one of the empty lot (there's plenty of empty spaces now that it's almost 6.30pm on a Friday) and got down to check.
I got a flat tire... :(
A close check at the tire, there are 2 nails!! One is a small crooked nail and another is a huge screw. Must have got it when I drive out to lunch earlier. Bummer!! There goes my swimming plan :(
Getting a punctured tire is a bad thing, but to think on the bright side, finding out about the flat tire in the office parking lot is something worth cheering. At least I don't have to squat by the road side along the coastal highway with fast car and smelly blue factory buses zooming past, changing tire.
I start to get to work by first getting out the car jack. Er...this first step prove to be difficult to me. I couldn't figure out how to remove the car jack from it's holder....aagrrhhh....it was pretty stupid of me. I've done it before, but that Fri, I think I must have misplaced my brain. Stared at that thing for quite awhile until Hup Chin came to my rescue. He got it figured out in no time and we get to work on the flat tire as soon as the car jack is out of its place.
And then there was the wrong-procedure incident. We should have loosen the nut first before fully jack the car up. Did it the opposite way, so we have to lower the car back, loosen the nut then re-jack it up. Sigh...~
The next task is to remove the spare tire from it's holding place. Being a wagon car, the spare tire is kept underneath the car boot; not inside, but under.
I was all sweating by then. Lucky me, at around that time, there was another guy passing by and he was really kind to stop by to help. At that moment onwards, Hup Chin and him work together to change the tire, no need my help anymore.
This big guy looks like he is a pro in changing tires...lol, he was quite fast. Not long after that, the spare tire was in place and the punctured one was in the boot. Thanked the 2 helpful guys before heading to the nearest toilet to clean my blacken hand.
Oopps, didn't manage to get the name of the other big guy before he left :P
That was it! Friday swimming workout got substitute by tire-changing practice...still ok la...got some calorie burning in the process...
***I forgot to take pictures of the nail on the tire before sending it for repair. So again, no pictures for this blog entry. I know I haven't been posting entry with accompanying photos, the blog tends to get boring with all my dull words. I'm gonna dig out my dusty camera and start snapping away soon, k!
