21 or 42?

After Sunday run that day, we had breakfast at Mt. Erskine market. The economic fried bee hoon I usually ordered weren't open. The curry puff stall was not open either. So I end up eating wantan mee, which doesn't taste very good that day. As a consolation, the coffee tasted really good!

As we were sitting there chatting, we came to the topic of PBIM. We talk about training and the weeks leading to the run. Btw, this will be Thomas's first 42km race. Nervous eh, Thomas :P

After awhile, the focused suddenly turned towards me. SP said that I should be running in the full marathon. He and Sam have numerous time tried to persuade me into changing my run category, but I was persistent to stick with half. This morning, it was Thomas and SP.

SP even said he can find me a full marathon bib if I agree to change to full.

...conversation goes sth like this...
Me: "Ok SP, I'll think about it IF you manage to find me a full marathon bib"
SP: *Grin "I can find it for you"
Thomas: "Actually, you should commit to full marathon if SP can find you a bib"
Me: "Errr......(couldn't think of what to say)" :-|

For the past few times when SP or Sam tried to talk me into changing category, I would say NO to them. No doubt whatsoever. But today, I actually find myself considering about their suggestion of doing 42km. Why am I even considering that crazy big 42 number? Freaking 42km leh!

  • I'm not saying that 42km is not do-able...just want to make it less painful

  • Well, this is just my 2 cents worth. I say run it only when you are mentally ready for it. Don't let pressure get to you. It is funny that this is coming from me, seeing that a lot of people around me have run marathons.

However, if the mind is not ready, then the body cannot follow.

  • Oh, and seriously, if you were to do a 42km, please try your best to run it with your own bib, and not someone else's, if possible. I am not sure you want your maiden marathon to be under someone else's name.

I still think it is not too late to change category.
