Thomas' Farewell Run

Today is Sunday, which is usually d day of the week for long runs.

I was awake by 4.40am. Check outside, "ahh, good, it's not raining".

This morning was one of those carpool days, I went over to pick up ChinChin. As we're turning out to Jln Masjid Negeri, little rain drop starts to fill my windscreen. No worries. It's just drizzling.

As we're approaching Youth Park, the rain got heavier. When we reach Youth Park carpark, I saw WK's jeep and he was there sitting in his car. As we waited in our own car, there were more cars turning into the carpark. There came April & husband, Tsen & ML, SP and Sunny. Everybody just sits in their car and wait, hoping the rain would soon subside.

Suddenly out of no where, we see Thomas ran out. As we later found out, Thomas reached at 5.30 and had started running on his own. He's really determined to get his last run in Penang done.

Seeing Thomas out in the rain drenched, get the rest of us out of our cars and into the rain. After some greetings and discussion, everybody decided to run despite the rain. Yah, we are one crazy bunch of runners!!

And so, our Sunday morning run started at 6.04am. Other than being crazy, this bunch of runners are extremely punctual with time. Our weekend runs usually starts on the dot, 6am. I'd say with the considerable heavy rain in the way, starting 4mins late is totally forgive-able.

Today was really a lucky day for all of us. As we headed out into the rain, it turns out to be not so heavy after all. After just about 1km or less, the rain completely stopped. I am so glad I decided to run. It was such a nice and cooling weather to be out here running on the almost empty street.

I had my pacer with me today *happy. It was a comfortable run.

This would be Thomas' last run in Penang. After today, he will be leaving Penang. I've known Thomas less than a year ago. He joined the running group some time in Sept/Oct last year. That time, he target to train for a full marathon and aim to complete the year end Penang Bridge Marathon. With determination and mental power plus all the run trainings with WWW, he manage to complete his first full marathon. He make it look so simple...

We will miss you Thomas! All the best to you in the future.
