Shake shock syiok

After a round of earth quake and after-shocks, I now know more about what to do when earth quake happen.

Just need to remember 3 simple words: DROP, COVER, HOLD

First thing to do is to DROP to the floor, to a nearby desk or table for protection. Debris might fall during a quake. One thing that people should not do is to walk/run out of the building during the process, debris might fall and cause injury. What I did (or did not do) that day might caused injury if the quake is serious.

COVER your head and eyes for protection

I like this picture...he seems to be praying :)
HOLD-on to the table so that you can move together with the table if it moves.

And now only I notice that most buildings in US should be safe during earth quake. The walls are not solid, when you knock on the wall they sound empty inside, so if the wall really collapse, the injury caused wouldn't be that serious (sorry if you're hit by the beam or the floor above your head, surely serious injury liao). So far, I found that the office wall and hotel is as described.

During an earth quake also need to stay away from windows as they might shatter.

I hope there is no such need for me to perform these steps for the rest of my stay here.

*Yay, I'm going somewhere far this weekend, have to stay overnight wan... :)

  • Which is the priority? Cover the head or hold something?

Not fair, how come I didn't get to experience any natural disaster......
