Bad side of development

These 2 nights there had been heavy rain and strong wind in Penang. Is it the monsoon season? I have no idea.

Yesterday, while I was sitting in my room learning how to use Photoshop, there was a sudden strong gust of wind blowing through the window. Then there was the banging of doors from neighbours below and above me, then came the sound of things falling onto the floor. The wind was then followed by heavy rain. I looked down the street below me, the trees were swaying so vigorously, scene from the movie Twister starts to form in my head. I had to close the window as the wind bring along rain water onto my bed. The wind was so strong, even after I closed the window, the wind was still hushing and forcing themselves through the small gap, the 'wee wee' sound was so irritating. Anyhow, the cool condition was perfect for a good night sleep.

Today at about the same time, the strong wind attack again. But the rain and wind stopped after about one hour. I was about to go to bed when I looked down the street again, I saw blinking of red and blue light. Was that an ambulance parked down there? I strain my eyes trying to see what it was, it was actually a fire brigade. What was it doing there? And then I saw it, there were trees fallen on cars parked along the road side. The firemen were cutting and dragging the tree trunks away from the road. Oh my, poor car owners, I wonder if their car is badly damaged by the fallen tree branches. The firemen are down there now, using their chain saw cutting away those trees. I can hear it from my room, 17 floors up. I have an urge to go down there to take a look, or maybe take a photographs or 2. But throw away the thoughts after awhile, I don't want to get scolded by the firemen, "woi, tak mau tolong lagi mau ambik gambar ka?".

This can all be blamed on development. One month before today, there were trees surrounding my condo. 2 pieces of land, full of trees. And then one day, tractor came and bang (they don't chop, they bang!) down all those trees, leaving only those around the perimeter, maybe to mark their land's perimeter/area. Those trees that were along the perimeter don't have friends to support them anymore, they were sad and weak. Manatau, this evil wind take this opportunity to attack the weaken trees. Finally, the evil wind wins and the trees lost. And the human pay the price (need to repair car lor...)

I supposed the two piece of land will be the base of 2 condominiums. Which will then lead to more parking problem in Taman Jubilee. Sigh, no eye see.
