Weekend on the road

I was on the road for the whole Sat and Sun riding motorbike, rode to Kota Bharu and back.

Started from Taiping in the morning, dad and I ride to Simpang Pulai to meet 24 other bikers. Reach Simpang Pulai by 9.30am, had a nasi lemak while waiting for everyone to arrive. Some of them brought along their wife, riding pillion. By 10am, everyone was here. There was a total of 34 people and 26 bike.
Damn!! Forgot to bring along my camera...all pictures were taken with phone
Everyone ready to take off from Cameron Highlands foothill

And up the hill we go, Cameron Highlands. Stop for a break at the landslide area before going back downhill on the other side towards Gua Musang. In case you don't know, one side of Cameron HIghland is Simpang Pulai and the other side is Gua Musang in Kelantan.
Having a break before heading downhill

We stop for a break every 100km or so, for petrol and for stiff hands to have a rest. And to make sure no one is left behind. The next stop after the landslide area was Gua Musang R&R. By that time I have already travelled 250km (from Taiping).

Another one hour, we reach Kuala Krai, another stop for petrol. Then Machang, for petrol AGAIN!!. One of the bikers found a friend who were willing to prepare a kenduri for all of us. Yea, we paid him some money. Lunch was at 3.30pm that day. Surprisingly, the nasi lemak I ate at Simpang Pulai last that long.

Someone was left behind, had to wait by the road side for him..3.10pm, heading to kenduri lunch

Ei, my head size and body size doesn't match... :(

Lunch was at a
kampung near our hostel. We keep our things in the hostel then ride to the nearby kampung. That's why you see me without jacket in the above picture.
Motors were parked at the badminton court while we're at the kenduri

We will be staying one night in Machang at the Institut Peladang. It is like a hostel, clean and fully equip with air-cond.

See the air-cond hanging outside...

After a bath we head to Kota Bharu for sight seeing.

Istana Jahar, Muzium adat istiadat diraja Kelantan

It was getting dark, my fon got useless..forgot to turn on the night mode

I don't know what's behind me...
At night we went to Pantai Cahaya Bulan, which is very near to Kota Bharu. There was slight rain but only for a while, not enuf to fully wet me.
At Pantai Cahaya Bulan

I know the picture quality is bad, but still you can clearly see me...what did my mum feed me when I'm a baby?
I'm the only female rider who actually drive on my own, they have husband to fetch them...

Sleep early that night, hand muscle started to feel sore especially the fingers. Very very tired. Next day woke up at 7.30 and start packing.
Hehe..the only non-auntie there is......ME!!
Last picture before leaving Institut Peladang

After tasting the famous Kelantan nasi dagang for breakfast, women gang wanted to go shopping so we went to the all-in-one market called Musalla, selling meat, fresh vegetables, dried stuff like keropok and ikan bilis, things you can find in kedai runcit and clothes. Bought one packet of raw keropok lekor for mum (and for myself). Wanted to buy more but there isn't any empty space in bag to keep the bulky keropok.

On the left is the all-in-one pasar
At about 11am, we head back. A little bit further down from Machang, one of the motor bike broke down. Spent about one hour there trying to figure out what was wrong with the bike. After changing the battery, things were back to normal.

Stop by Kuala Krai for lunch. Next stop was the Strawberry park in Cameron. We stop for strawberry juice.

At Cameron with other people's BMW bike

Drizzle on our way down hill towards Simpang Pulai. Luckily the rain was not really heavy and by the time we reach foot hill, the rain stopped. We stop at simpang pulai to bid goodbye to everyone. Hug hug with the women gang, they were very friendly. After that we go our separate ways. I reach Taiping around 7pm. So tired, really really tired. Had to drive back Penang some more.

For these 2 days, I travelled 901km to and fro from Taiping to Kota Bharu, spent RM93 on petrol and RM30 on food.

I'm not sure whether you believe me or not. On my way from Gua Musang to Kuala Krai, I think I went a little bit too fast, the speedometer cannot take it and broke down. The last time i looked the meter i was at 190km/hr, then the next time i look at the meter, it was at ZERO! *a string in the speedometer break off

New column in side bar

I've added in a new column into my side bar, Dory's shared item. In this column I'll share out links/news or whatever it is that I find it interesting. It will be updated from time to time.

There are currently 3 links in it now, the reason I shared them is because:
1) The first link is a nice picture to share

2) The solar halo happens in Penang :)

3) I hv few words to say about the road name.
In my opinion, this is an impractical things to do. It is good to remember and give credit to people who contribute to the country but why road names? We don't need long road names. It is time consuming when filling in address in forms, some online forms do not have enough space provided for long addresses, and it is difficult to remember.

Anyway, remember to check out my shared items column everytime you stop by.

The Big Run

The annual Penang Bridge Marathon is just around the corner, it will be on the 24th June 2007. Just like last year, Altera is sponsoring employees who wish to take part in the run. Last year I've had fun participating (minus the aching part), and this year I'll be doing the same thing, participating in the half-marathon category.

After last year's marathon, I have not had much exercise except for the weekly yoga, in 8 months, I've gained a total of 2kg. I'm not surprised because I've not been controlling my diet and very seldom exercise. I'm not that kind of girl who can eat whatever I like and still can maintain weight even without exercise, I really envy people with such a high metabolism ability. Ooppss..I'm a bit off topic here, enough about the gaining weight part, back to the marathon...

What is more exciting about the marathon this year is that Kenny Sia will be taking part in the full marathon!! Hehe..maybe I'm lucky enough to meet him on the Penang Bridge. Looking forward to this..

Life is meaningless without a target, thus a target for this year's run were set. The target for last year is to finish 22.3km run without boarding the provided bus and still keep myself in one piece, how long it takes to finish the run doesn't matter (Time limit for half-marathon to qualify for medal and cert is 3 hours). Last year, even though I took more than 3 hours, but eventually I finished the run, and I got a medal and a cert too! As for this year, my target is to finish within 3 hours. In order to achieve target, I had better start training soon, at the same time can lose some weight. I can't run too far with too much extra fats hanging from my body, can I?

To my friends from other states, if you are interested to take part I can help you submit the form as well as collect the T-shirt and participant number. This is the only time when the Penang Bridge will be close to all vehicle and it is the only time you can walk on the mighty Penang Bridge. (except of course if your car/motor broke down on the bridge la..)

The medal from last year

Well done to SPM/STPM students!!

The SPM and STPM results are out recently. In this latest trend, students are taking more and more subjects in hope of being the top SPM/STPM scorer of the year. 7 years ago, I took 9 subjects for my SPM, the max I heard people took were 12. But now, students can get as many as 18/17 A's. I'm amazed. Is it really necessary to obtain so many A's?
According to the state education director, the maximum number of examinations that a candidate can take is 21.

So many students are getting straight A's nowadays, sometimes it makes me wonder if it is Malaysian students getting smarter or is it the public examination's standard getting lower.

An update on 'me'

I'm still helplessly stuck to Maple.

Since I started working, I've wanted to stop Mapling since many months ago. Tried once in December. I stopped playing for about 2 weeks. By the 3rd week, my hands started itching, mind started to lose focus. There's one time during meeting, I saw Maple background behind my boss's head when he was talking. It was scary! That week, my hope of kicking-off Maple failed...

Another attempt to stop Mapling was after CNY. During CNY, I spent one whole week in Taiping without Internet connection, meaning no Maple for one week. After CNY, I came back Penang but didn't start playing. I involved myself in TVB drama instead. With that, another week gone by without Maple. But then, it didn't last long. IN THE 3rd WEEK: I 'accidentally' click on the Maple icon on my desktop when I finished the last episode of the drama I was watching. So how? Nothing much can be done...juz continue playing lor.. :P

Other than work, I don't have a life except in the Maple world. So I decided to formally introduce my identity in this colourful world.

This is Dory, she's a warrior. There are 3 types of warrior, Dory is a spearman at level 66. When she reach level 70, she'll advance to Dragon Knight.

This is Mini and she's a bandit thief. At level 23, there's no special skill or power she can perform, meaning it's quite hard and boring to train her up. Still in progress...

And last but not least, this is More. Haha..I'm out of idea of what to name her, so just simply gave her a word. Now, the more I think of it, the uglier the name becomes. Too bad I'm not able to change the name except to delete and recreate a new character. Nah, too time consuming. I'd just stick to More. More is an archer, killing monster from afar, unlike Dory and Mini. She's supposedly holding a bow but coz she's still very young at level14, she's cannot handle a bow very well yet. That's why here, she's holding an axe.

So, my hope of stopping Maple leads me to creating 2 more characters. What do you think? I'm definitely hopeless and helpless......

If you're also interested to become an addict like me, here's some info:
  1. Download the game at www.maplesea.com
  2. Create an account at the same website
  3. Install the game, create your character (3 characters are allowed for 1 account)
  4. Choose your skin color, eyes, hair style and hair color
  5. Refer to forum in maplesea website on what job you're interested: warrior, thief, magician, archer
  6. Hopelessly become an addict :)
In Maple, I'm in the Cassiopeia world. You have to be in the same world as me to meet me. Other earlier world are Aquila and Bootes, and the latest world is Delphinus.
